NEW ROMAN PIZZA SPOT: Ciaooo by the Slice launches in Shudehill

7 June 2025 by Rhiannon Ingle

Manchester’s pizza scene is about to get a Roman twist as the team behind the beloved Neapolitan pizzeria, Ciaooo, is launching a new venture: Ciaooo by the Slice.

Now open in Shudehill, this spot, which has replaced Ciaooo’s Loaded Garlic Bread shop, will specialise in authentic Roman-style pizza al taglio - square slices baked in large trays and sold by the piece.

Unlike the soft, chewy Neapolitan pies Ciaooo is known for, Roman pizza al taglio boasts a crispy base and airy dough. Each day, Ciaooo by the Slice will offer eight rotating varieties, featuring toppings like pulled pork with truffle oil, pepperoni drizzled with homemade hot honey, and even a fresh chicken salad - a nod to Roman street food traditions.

Don't worry if you're not a meat-eater as vegetarian and vegan options, including classic Margherita and Marinara, will also be available. Slices start at £4 and can be boxed individually or in sets of up to four.

Beyond pizza, Ciaooo by the Slice will serve Lory’s handmade tiramisu in flavors like Classic, Biscoff, Pistachio, and Kinder Bueno. A rotating special will kick off with a combination of banana, salted caramel, and crispy pancetta.

Founders Stefano Mordecchi and Lory Grigorie said: "We’ve always been passionate about Roman pizza – it’s where we started.

"Opening Ciaooo Loaded Garlic Bread gave us the chance to try something new, and while people loved the garlic bread, they still wanted great pizza too. That made us realise it was time to bring something different to Manchester – something that really reflects our roots and what we love."
