NEXT WEEK: One-day artisan market with over 50 indie traders coming to Greater Manchester

22 March 2026 by Rhiannon Ingle

Eccles has a long history as a market town, a place where people came to trade, meet friends, pick up good food and see what was happening. On Sunday, 29th March, that spirit will return as Independent Street brings a one-day artisan market featuring more than 50 independent traders to Church Street.

Running 11 am - 4 pm as part of the free Get In! To Eccles festival, the street, in the heart of the town centre, will be filled with food stalls, small producers, bakers and independent makers travelling in from across Greater Manchester and beyond.

Food is very much front and centre. Visitors can pick up award-winning northern honey from Dan and the Bees, authentic Middle Eastern dishes from The Camels Hump Lebanese Street Food, fresh handmade favourites from The Samosa Guy, festival plates from The Teatime Collective, and stone-baked pizzas from Stockport’s The Pizza Maker.

There will be plenty for those with a sweet tooth too, with treats from The Worsley Bakehouse, Stardust Bakery, Sweet Tooth Towers, Totally Baked and Vicky’s Bakes, alongside craft spirits from The Salford Rum Company, whose rum takes inspiration from the fruit and spice imports that once arrived through Salford Docks in the early 1900s.

Alongside the food and drink, the market will bring together a wide mix of independent makers and artists, from handmade jewellery and crafts to soaps, gifts and homewares. Traders include Breaking Hearts Jewels, Soap of Gaya, Square One Scents, Drewz Soapz, The Artful Crafter and many more.

Set against the backdrop of a town steeped in trading history, the market is a chance to see Eccles town centre buzzing, with stalls, food and people filling the street in the way markets always have.

Lisa Cowley, owner of Independent Street, said: "We are so excited to bring our award-winning markets to Eccles town centre. Our events bring the community together and provide a platform for local artisans to showcase their work to their community.

"Events like this are the perfect place to discover the providence of your food and to chat to our makers and bakers, so pop down and join us. There will also be free children’s craft activities, face painting and live music in our market area. Eccles has real market history, and we are so excited to bring the markets back on Sunday, 29th March. We hope you can make it!"

The Independent Street Artisan Market forms part of Get In! To Eccles, a free weekend festival of music, art, installations and community activity taking place across Eccles town centre on Saturday 28th and Sunday 29th March 2026.

The market takes place on Church Street, Eccles, on Sunday, 29th March from 11 am - 4 pm.
