Noma voted top in Worlds 50 Best Restaurants

1 May 2012

Sadly, Manchester has again failed to make it into the Worlds 50 Best Restaurants as complied by Restaurant Magazine. However this list, announced at an award ceremony last night, is big news for the food and drink industry offering both benchmarks to aspire to and trends to watch. It is also worth exploring if only to plan the occasional, very luxurious mini-break around...

Taking first place for the third year running is Noma, a restaurant in Copenhagen which has popularised extremely local, foraged and terroir food (flavours and ingredients rooted to and inspired by their locale and by tradition, pictured) on menus around the world. Both Spain and the US have three entries each within the top 10, while elsewhere, Asian food is going from strength to strength, with restaurants in Japan, Singapore and Hong Kong another trend.
