Now open: Ribble Valley Inns The Nag's Head in Haughton near Tarporley

The Nag’s Head at Haughton, near Tarporley opened on 9 June 2014. With menus created by celebrity chef, Nigel Haworth, the acclaimed Lancashire-based premium food pub group, Ribble Valley Inns, are bringing their signature brand of fine, local and seasonal ingredients, to the heart of Cheshire.

Located in the hamlet of Haughton Moss, this pub has been standing since 1680. And now, with menus created by Michelin star chef Nigel Haworth, it’s set to become one of the county’s finest food pubs.

All four sites in The Ribble Valley Inn group hold an AA Rosette and place in the Michelin Pub Guide. Industry heavyweights, Nigel Haworth and Craig Bancroft of fine dining restaurant Northcote in Lancashire, are the group’s founders. The Nag’s Head is the group’s first site in Cheshire. The choice of location reflects their passion for historic, unique and beautiful settings, and high quality produce.

History

The Grade II listed building started life in the 17th Century as a local smithy and inn. Features uncovered in the restoration include Victorian tiled floors and original beams. There's also a bowling green, kitchen garden, and large al fresco dining space plus four open log fires.

The pub can serve 150, with seating for more than 100 outside. Award-winning, Chester-based designers Lister Carter have been appointed to do the interior decoration.

North West food hero Nigel Haworth  has worked with Head Chef Michael Carter to create a menu that celebrates the local larder. Craig Bancroft is one of the UK’s leading wine experts and a Master Inn Holder. He has developed a the drinks list, alongside Nick Adams and Adam Pawloksi (Northcote’s sommelier).
