Now you can create your own dining experience at District’s New Wave Thai BBQ

22 July 2022 by Deanna Thomas

For the first time ever, Manchester’s Michelin-acclaimed new wave Thai BBQ restaurant, DISTRICT, will offer dishes from its tasting menu individually. This means diners can now create their own District experience - or just pop in for a couple of dishes with cocktails.

DISTRICT’s favourites raw bass nam jim and BBQ secreto Iberico pork remain on the menu, to be joined by new dishes like tom saeb pa - a hot and sour jungle broth from the Isan region of Thailand, served with roots, tubers and Thai herbs, and ‘Moo Grob’ style Kurobuta Berkshire pork belly with Chinese broccoli and Birds Eye chilli.

The progressive approach to Thai food remains the centre of the DISTRICT experience with innovation, sustainability and accessibility at the heart of the offering. But they’re now offering sharing dishes for those dining in groups and can offer something new and varied on each visit.

The menu - described by Sunday Times critic Marina O’Loughlin as “Thai but not as we know it”, also features Kagoshima Wagyu Massaman - Striploin with bone marrow curry, artichoke fermented potato, flatbread & pickles a new dish created by DISTRICT owner, Ben Humphreys.

“We are passionate about creating the highest quality experience for our customers,” says Ben. “Our aim is to capture the essence of Thai flavours whilst maintaining the highest quality produce, suppliers and dishes.

“Changing our service style will give us creative freedom in the kitchen. We can develop dishes that don’t have to fit into a tasting menu format. We will also have the opportunity to offer daily changing special dishes.”

The new menu will be available from August 3rd 2022, with bookings now being taken under ‘New Wave Thai’ on their bookings page

DISTRICT will also be extending their evening offering on Friday and Saturday nights with in-house Synthwave DJs and drinks for those who book ‘Night Drive’, so you can dine late, and drink even later. Book HERE.
