IT’S a hard act to follow. In the short time it was in temporary residency at the back of Teacup Mary-Ellen McTague’s pop-up 4244 garnered a ton of accolades. Now, with the ex-Aumbry chef’s return to Prestwich normal service is resumed.
Well not quite. The Northern Quarter eaterie’s head chef, Tom Wollam, has designed a new evening menu to build on the success of its popular daytime offering, alongside an exclusive evening cocktail menu. Both menus are set to go live on Thursday January 29, with extended opening hours to accommodate them.
It’s all about small plate, casual dining, true to the Teacup ethos, but straying beyond the tea and cake bedrock of the business. The new food menu ranges in price, from Patatas Bravas (£3), to more indulgent dishes such as Seared Tuna with Orange and Ponzu Sauce (£7.50) or the Asian style Duck roulade with dipping sauce (£6.50). The menu also boasts staple sharing boards with a choice of cheese, meat and vegetarian, which are all £14.
The new cocktail menu is equally punchy – inspired by the in-house loose-leaf teas and coffee beans. Tipples such as NQ Iced Tea which combines various hard spirits with Teacup’s signature Hibiscus Tea infused syrup (£7) or the the Espresso Martini, complete with Teacup’s in-house espresso blend (£6).
The new menu will be available exclusively in the evenings from Tue-Sat from 6pm-9.30pm.
