OBSESSION is a fabulous name for a dining festival and attention to detail doesnt get any more obsessive than a pageant of some of the UK and Europes finest chefs taking over the kitchens of Northcote, Lancashires long-serving MIchelin-starred outpost (and champion of north west produce).
As always, this January event, now in its 14th year, features a stellar cast 10 signature menus created by 11 very special chefs, concluding with Northcotes own Nigel Haworth and Lisa Allen, taking over the stoves, respectively on Tuesday, January 28 and Wednesday, January 29.
Each night offers a different epicurean adventure, matched with some special wines curated by Chef Patron Haworths business partner Craig Bancroft. The man himself declares it his favourite time of the year. Follow it live on https://twitter.com/northcoteuk via the hashtag #Obsession14.
This year the festival offers eclectic chef line-up: Paul Ainsworth, At Number Six restaurant, Padstow; Eric Chavot, Brasserie Chavot, London; Gary Jones, Le Manoir aux Quat Saisons, Oxford; Paul Cunningham, Henne Kirkeby Kro, Denmark; Adam Byatt, Trinity, London; Jonray & Peter Sanchez-Iglesias, Casamia, Bristol; Adam Simmonds, formerly of Adam Simmonds Restaurant At Danesfield House Marlow-On-Thames; Michael Wignall, The Latymer, at Penny Hill Park Hotel, Surrey.
The latter, pictured, who is cooking on Sunday, November 26, has just acted as consultant for Gary Neville and Ryan Giggs new football-themed Cafe Football at the Westfield Straford City, London reviewed favourably by Observer critic Jay Rayner. At Northcote the ex-Devonshire Arms chef will be displaying the very different cuisine that brought two Michelin stars and huge acclaim to The Latymer. The rest of the chefs on show are equally special. Worth the Obsession!
