Off the Press, a new café has just opened on the ground floor of the newly refurbished One Express building on George Leigh Street. Managed by Mike Nixdorf, Off the Press features an in-house bakery serving speciality coffee and a selection of healthy and delicious food.
The display cabinet offers a modern approach to fast convenient dining and features breakfast wraps, overnight oats, hearty salads, filled bagels and sandwiches with fillings like pastrami, Emmental, sauerkraut and pickles on focaccia baked by Manchester’s @companiobakery.
You’ll also find fresh pies, pastries and cakes with plant-based and allergy-friendly options too including the muffin flavour of the day in flavours such as kiwi, lime and coconut or lemmon polenta drizzle loaves.
Coffee is supplied by AllPress coffee roasters for speciality lattes. Other drinks available include teas, chai lattes, protein smoothies and locally crafted sodas.
The café interior has been designed in a sleek and mid-century modern style, to offer a friendly atmosphere to local office workers, residents, students and shoppers. Outside seating is also available so people can enjoy their lunch in the sunshine. Food and drink is also available to take away.
“With a focus on creating a fresh, healthy menu for people on the go, we’ve taken a lot of inspiration from the Antipodean coffee culture, which is all about speciality coffee and laid back, tasty food,” says General Manager Mike Nixdorf. “Whether it’s someone nipping in for a coffee on their way to work, someone who wants to spend an hour enjoying lunch with a good book or someone who want a healthy bite after a trip to the gym – we’ve got something for everyone and we’re looking forward to getting to know the Ancoats community this summer.”
Open Monday-Friday from 07:30 – 16:00, closed at weekends
