GORTON Monastery is the unlikely setting for a gathering of olive oil growers and producers, chefs and first pressed extra virgin aficonados... and on day 2 the general public.
Essential Olive Oil Knowledge for a Healthier Future Conference 2013? takes place on Tuesday, June 18 and Wednesday, June 19, culminating in a dinner in the spectacular setting of Pugins architectural masterpiece.
The conference is hosted by La Locanda, an authentic Italian restaurant from Gisburn, Lancashire with Italian government support. Highlight of Day One promises to be a lunchtime championing of the right way for chefs to handle olive oil in the kitchen by la Locandas Maurizo Bocchi and Nigel Haworth of Michelin-starred Northcote Manor.
The day culminates in a five course tasting dinner (booking essential) created by top Italian chefs and a musical reception.
Day 2 is open to the general public and features workshops explaining on a more basic level the culinary and health benefits of olive oil plus ethical concerns. Theres also a chance to purchase some amazing oils.
