LIKE the Saturday papers with their abundant supplements making the Sundays superfluous, now brunch, once a Sabbath preserve, is starting the weekend. Well certainly at Gaucho.
TOM’s favourite meat-centric joint named after a cowboy of the Pampas has long been a popular ‘bottomless’ brunch destination on Sundays. Now the same Electro Brunch formula is being wheeled out 24 hours previously, too. Think endless Argentine Domaine Chandon bubbles, cocktails plus fresh juices and smoothies backdropped by a live DJ.
The all-inclusive menu includes eggs benedict and eggs florentine; oven baked chorizo sausage served with egg and mushrooms; grilled provoleta cheese with sourdough; churrasco de cuadril steak and fried egg; chivito sandwich served with lomito picante, tomato, egg and bacon; smoked salmon with scrambled eggs; banana pancakes and dulce de leche; and yoghurt with fresh fruit salad and honey.
We’d recommend to accompany all this Gaucho’s Bloody Mary made with Stolichnaya Gold vodka, tomato juice, chimichurri, citrus and Tabasco.
Electro Brunch, Saturdays 11am-3pm with unlimited food and drinks included (one drink per person, at any one time) for £45 a head. Gaucho, 2A St Mary's Street, Manchester M3 2LB. 0161 833 4333.
