GRUB, winner of Best Pop Up, Event or Project of the Year in the 2017 Manchester Food and Drink Awards, is launching at its exciting new venue this weekend.
Expect a big party at the Fairfield Social Club at Arch No 6 in Temperance Street, a new permanent events space and live music space that takes GRUB to a new level after a breathless year culminating in their hosting the British Street Food Awards at their former Mayfield Depot pop-up base.
The new premises, still part of the Mayfield development, have been previously used for a pop-up event. Now, offering a permanent roof over traders’ heads, they will host the ‘Grub Food Fair At Fairfield Social Club’ every Friday and Saturday 12pm-10pm, from October 27 and 28 and ‘Plant Powered Sundays’ will be every every Sunday 12pm-8pm, from October 29.
Traders lined up for the first Food Fair are:
Fruits of the Forage – hand foraged sorbets, ice creams and famous wild fruit toastie; SMF South Manny Flavaz – chicken and waffles; Pastrami Now – meat butties and toasties; Wallace and Sons – fluffy bao; Chou Choux – French inspired patisserie; The Otto-Men (main picture) – mezze masters; Diamond Dogs – hand-smoked tad frankfurters
Howlin’ Taco – featuring blue corn masa; The Gravy Train – purveyors of poutine.
The first Plant Powered Sunday offers:
Lekker Vegan Bakery; I Knead Pizza; Vaso Kitchen; Wholesome Junkies (KFC burgers and vegan comfort food).
Children and dogs are welcome at these free events, celebrating GRUB’s thrid birthday. To mark the occasion long-time collaborators Runaway Brewery have brewed a special Lemon Drizzle IPA called ‘Happy Birthday To Me III’. Cheers, GRUB.
