Pilcrow Pub goes plant-based with plentiful pints at Alt Milk

30 July 2019 by Neil Sowerby

JUST when we felt there was a lull in the plant-based quest for world domination up springs The Pilcrow Pub’s Alt Milk Vegan Festival on Saturday, August 3.

Fear not, it’s not all about soy-based cheese substitutes – as you’d expect from the folk behind IndyManBeerCon there’s a raft of spectacular beers on offer. A shame it clashes with Full Fat at The Fairfield but it’s easy, if a bit dizzy-making, to attend both events on the day.

There’s a full programme of eco-friendly, animal-respecting food, music and crafts plus a DJ line-up. The food comes from Altrincham arancini maestros Little Orange Co, Mexican food with Northern soul from Twisted Meal and dairy-free sweet treats from Drizzle City Bakes.

The vegan tap takeover is spectacular. Make a beeline for  Mikkeller‘s Spontandoubleraspberry, a sour ale brewed with raspberries and aged in oak barrels, the  strawberry and elderberry wheat sour from Yonder’s Loop series, and a raspberry and hibiscus IPA from North’s collaboration with Dutch brewery Van Moll.

There will also be vegan-friendly brews from the local likes of Cloudwater, Beatnikz Republic and Track.

Saturday, August 3, 12pm-8pm. Alt Milk, The Pilcrow Pub, Hanover St, Manchester M60 0AB. 0161 834 4989.
