PLANNT is the vegan eating concept at FoodWell, new arrival at One New Bailey. Fittingly at this spectacular health-centric venue (restaurant/bar meets yoga studios)they’ve hired the best plant-based chef in town to curate the food offering.
Matt Nutter earned national acclaim for his groundbreaking Allotment restaurant in Stockport. For his creative take on vegan fine dining he won Best Chef at the 2017 Manchester Food and Drink Awards.
Now to showcase his talents Foodwell will go totally vegan for one night only – Friday, March 29 – offering a £65 a head 10-course tasting menu.
‘Evening of Plannt’ will feature signature dishes such as baked apple and cardamom-infused panacotta, chilli pistachio and sesame tuile; chipotle jerky, cashew camembert, cashew roquefort, almond feta, chutney and breads and `baked banana cream tart, rotisserie miso pineapple and rum jelly. There’s also the option of adding a vegan wine flight for £25. FoodWell’s entire cocktail menu is vegan too, available on the night.
Matt told us: ‘The tasting menu is something that I created after I left the Allotment; it was a week in which I was full of creativity and I was really missing the idea of coming up with new dishes. It’s as seasonal as I could possibly make it and it’s really all about cleansing the pallet and leaving the body feeling incredibly refreshed at the end of the meal, along with executing flavour to the best I can.
“It feels like fate that I got the phone call to come to the FoodWell after I’d made this menu, as it’s the ultimate location and perfect setting in which to serve it.’
FoodWell is open seven days a week, with an all-day menu offering breakfast, lunch and dinner, with the addition of brunch and Sunday roast at the weekends focusing on ‘food that fuels the mind, body and soul’ – with meat options too!
For each meal bought, FoodWell has pledged to plant a tree in Tanzania as part of an environmental initiative with the Green Earth Appeal.
