The Campaign for Real Ale (CAMRA) has unveiled its 2026 Good Beer Guide, the definitive handbook celebrating the very best pubs, bars, and social clubs serving exceptional cask beer across the UK.
This year’s edition spotlights several Greater Manchester venues, with pubs in Stockport, Middleton, Sale, and the city centre among the standout new entries. The annual guide is compiled by independent volunteers, making it a trusted source for beer lovers and pub-goers.
Alongside the release, CAMRA issued a stark warning to the government, calling the upcoming autumn Budget a 'make-or-break moment' for the pub and brewing industry.
CAMRA Chairman Ash Corbett-Collins said: "It’s time for the Government to decide if they’re pro-pub and pro-independent brewers, or if they will preside over the decline of the great British pub.
"This year’s guide reflects the incredible resilience of landlords and landladies who continue to deliver quality and choice despite soaring tax bills and limited government support."
CAMRA’s figures paint a challenging picture as 149 breweries closed over the past year, while only 71 new breweries opened. Meanwhile, 36 pubs featured in the 2025 guide have since closed, with many others facing an uncertain future.
Despite this, the 2026 edition showcases 897 new pub entries, demonstrating the determination of the UK’s pub industry to thrive against the odds.
