The upcoming Levenshulme Food And Drink Festival, which this year runs from June 12-21, will be brimming with a culinary offering that represents the cultural diversity of the area.
Mexico, Mauritius, Africa, Italy, Thailand are all represented in separate events, but the real melting pot moment is the Global Picnic at Cringle Park on Sunday, June 14.
The festival is also hosting a series of workshops providing hands on learning with expert guidance – wine, cheese and bread making, a Thai masterclass and two devoted to pasta making. There is also a cooking to fill your freezer class, and an adults and children’s cooking and eating together session, while the seminal Levy Market will be buzzing on Saturdays June 13 and 20.
The launch is at 7pm on Friday June 12. The Heritage Survival Band, from Zimbabwe, will kick off the celebrations during The Taste of Africa event at the Klondyke club, on Friday June 12, where there will also be an African Buffet.
The newly opened Fred’s Ale House will stage a beer and cider festival from Thursday, June 18 until Sunday, June 21, showcasing independent micro-breweries, and the venue will host a variety of community and music events climaxing on Thursday, June 18, with a Madfrit Club night celebrating all the great indie pop Manchester bands from the 1980s.
