IT sounds idyllic – an array of the best local ales at £2 a pint and a village cricket match to watch. That’s the winning formula of the eighth annual Broadbottom Beer Festival , which takes place from 1pm on Saturday, June 23, at the village cricket club.
Curated by Richard Blyth and Jon Heydon, the Festival features a debut appearance from Donkey Stone Brewery plus old favourites Greenfield, Milestone, Four Kings, Howard Town and Torrside Breweries, alongside Mad Hatter and La Catina Ciders, with Prosecco by the bottle behind the club bar.
An accompanying barbecue comes from award-winning Glossop butcher’s Mettricks.
From 1.30pm you can watch league cricket between Broadbottom and arch rivals Hawk Green.
Broadbottom Cricket Club, 36 Mottram Rd, Broadbottom, Hyde SK14 6BQ. £2.50 entry. Beer £2 a pint, cider £2.50. Trains are every half an hour from Piccadilly (turn left out of the station, up the hill 300 yards).
