Revitalised Manchester Food and Drink Festival set to reflect boom time in the city

2 April 2015

THE city’s big food extravaganza of the year will take place from September 10-21. The 2015 Manchester Food and Drink Festival has been running an amazing 18 years and shows no signs of slowing down, promising a return to years gone by with a full “Festival Fringe” happening in the city’s most exciting establishments.

The revitalised programme will feature collaborations with some of the area’s best restaurants, chefs, producers, makers, growers, brewers and artists. There’ll be appearances from some familiar faces from around the UK, too.

The heart of the action, the Festival Hub, will remain at its traditional home on Albert Square, and will continue to provide a specially built city centre food-village throughout the 12 day event.

The Hub will also host a much larger schedule of events, masterclasses and demonstrations, creating more opportunities to learn, shop, listen, make and taste than ever before. With a dazzling array of eating, drinking – and dancing – opportunities, too.

A revamped Big Indie Wine Festival will bring incredible wines back to Manchester’s Town Hall, showcasing stunning collections from the city’s most passionate wine merchants, and more opportunities to learn from the best.

The legendary Manchester Food and Drink Festival Gala Dinner and Awards will take place on Monday, September 21 at a venue to be announced.

Festival founder Phil Jones, said:  “This year’s Festival is going to be very special indeed. We’re making a return to the approach that put MFDF on the map in the first place – curating a programme of events around the city that excites Northern food lovers. We’ve been forced to be more streamlined in recent years, and in that time have vastly improved the outdoor events at the Festival.

“Manchester is booming again, and the Festival, along with some exciting new partners, is ready to bring a world class, multi-venue, urban food and drink festival experience to the city .”

The first Festival programme announcement will be made Wednesday, April 22. www.foodanddrinkfestival.com.
