Roll out the barrel as Rum Festival packs in 60 top producers

4 June 2019 by Neil Sowerby

THERE are still tickets available for Manchester Rum Festival (Saturday, June 8), returning for its third year, this time in the atmospheric Brickworks events space under the Barton Arcade. Perfect for imagining you are a grog smuggler.

The festival has expanded this year to include both afternoon and evening sessions (choose from noon-5pm or 6-11pm) as well as a new seminar room with expert talks from rum aficionados and creators. Further cheer – ticket prices have been frozen at £20, despite the new and expanded festival programme.

Event sponsors include a returning Mancunian favourite, Revolución de Cuba, as the festival bar supporter, offering a variety of rum cocktails through their Cuban bar experience. Home of excellent steak, Alston Bar and Beef, return as one of the festival’s food vendors and the festival shop is in the capable custody of spirits expert and festival organiser Dave Marsland.

There are more than 60 rum producers from as far afield as Japan, Australia and Salford  alongside the Caribbean masters of the sugar cane-based spirit. Full programme here
