Roofff – turning a car park into a panoramic foodie fun spot

22 August 2019

MANCHESTER does love a panoramic rooftop bar/restaurant. Step forward the latest vertiginous candidate that says it in one word – Roofff. It’s a project by Buzz Ventures to to transform the 10th floor of Q-Park car park at First Street into a huge tropical sky garden, with three bars and eight restaurants, all taking advantage of 360-degree views of the Manchester skyline.

Roofff hopes to open before the end of the year, but it has yet to go before a planning committee. If it lives up to the CGIs the reality will be stunning. The existing tarmac will be covered with wooden decking and turf and wooden pergolas overhead will be draped in vines and hanging plants.

There will be indoor seating for more than 400 diners under a clear, corrugated plastic roof  with an extra 250 seats outside on the open-air rooftop  with air conditioning and heating to make it a year-round experience.

Open kitchens are expected to serve a mix of Japanese cuisine, steaks, fresh seafood, all-day breakfasts and desserts.

Roofff would be opening in a prime spot above the likes of Gasworks, Wood and Bunny Jackson's Juke Joint, with culture complex HOME next door.
