The hugely successful San Carlo Group of Italian restaurants is to further expand operations in the North West with a new branch set to open in Hale's Players restaurant. The family owned and operated group, already has 13 leading restaurants around the UK, including four in Manchester; San Carlo, San Carlo Cicchetti on King Street West and San Carlo Bottega and Farmacia del Dolce, both in Selfridges. The new addition, which is located on the Hale Barns to Wilmslow Road, will re-open on Monday 20 January, as San Carlo Fiorentina.
Named after the region of Florence, Fiorentina, famed for its steak recipes, the restaurant will feature a special Robata grill (which dining fans may recognise from other restaurants, such as Australasia) which allows chefs to cook prime cuts of meat, such as aged beef, over wood-fired open flames. Robata means 'fire side cooking' in Japanese and is said to greatly enhance flavour. San Carlos signature menu of seafood, fish, meat, pasta and pizzas - not forgetting fine wines - completes the familiar picture.
Commenting on the news, San Carlo Group managing director, Marcello Distefano said: Were really excited to be opening our second suburban restaurant [the other being San Carlos Flying Pizza, Roundhay, Leeds] and our first in Cheshire. Many of our loyal customers, who visit San Carlo Manchester regularly, live within the Hale, Wilmslow and Alderley Edge area and we think it will be a great fit for us. We look forward to welcoming lots of familiar and hopefully new faces, soon.
