Farmacia Del Dolce (Pharmacy of Desserts) is the second new dining concept from San Carlo Group for Selfridges, opening Thursday 28 November. The new patisserie, ice cream parlour and café-bar is located on the lower ground floor of Selfridges. Serving a European café menu which includes all day speciality brunches, signature mains, sandwiches, cold plates and salads, afternoon tea, freshly baked cakes, pastries, and a range of coupes and gelato, the latest opening follows the launch of San Carlo Bottega in Selfridges in October. The restaurant, champagne and cocktail bar located on the second floor of the central department store and serves small plate dishes to share or eat alone, influenced by Italy and Southern France.
In light, fresh surrounds, Farmacia Del Dolce will serve an all day European menu. Specialities include scrambled egg with smoked salmon, eggs benedict, eggs Norwegian and a signature full English. Cold plates include Parma ham with figs and honey, Severn and Wye oak smoked salmon and grilled Mediterranean vegetables marinated in mint olive oil and chilli. Sandwiches include chicken schnitzel, lettuce and mayonnaise, salt beef and pickle on rye, Croque Monsieur and king prawn, rocket and lemon mayonnaise. Mains include mussels marinière with papatine fritte (chips), ravioli lobster, the Farmacia burger, lasagne, fish cakes and Crespelle pancakes filled with ricotta and spinach. Signature salads include Caprese mozzarella, avocado and tomato with pesto dressing, tuna nicoise and beetroot and goats cheese. A viennoiserie menu includes fresh croissants, muffins, scones and pastries.
The dessert menu features delicately flavoured macaroons, gateaux slices, lemon meringue pie, cheesecakes, tiramisu, fruit tarts, cupcakes and mille feuille, ice cream and whimsical creations such as meringue and marshmallow, jelly and ice cream, chocolate nut and lemon swizzle, served in long stemmed glasses.
Farmacia Del Dolce will be the fourth Manchester restaurant and bar from the independently owned San Carlo Group which owns and operates eleven UK restaurants including San Carlo and San Carlo Cicchetti on Manchesters King Street West.
