ANCOATS on the up is an indie mantra for our times. Even the Ancoats General Store is a buzzing hub, launching a weekly instore pop-up event called SCRANcoats every Thursday, starting February 2, and two days later hosting a free evening tasting of Manchester’s Three Rivers Gin.
The inaugural SCRANcoats (12pm-8pm) showcases signature kati rolls (below) from Burnage-based Indian street fooders Vaso Kitchen and there’s a strong vendor list for the weeks ahead.
On Saturday, February 4, from 4pm-8pm, drop in for a tot of locally-distilled Three Rivers, served by acclaimed bartender. Bonus – buy a bottle and you’ll be entered into a competition to enjoy a gin master class at the distillery, hosted by award winning cocktail bartender Amir Javaid.
