Manchester based ShinDigger Brewing Co and music producer WERKHA recently announced their collaboration on a unique project to create a new craft beer. The new ‘City Shuffle Red Ale’ has been launched to celebrate the release of Werkha’s debut album “The Colours of a Red Brick Raft”.
The collaboration originated in early Spring when, as big fans of his music, the ShinDigger boys approached Werkha, proposing to brew a bespoke beer to mark the occasion. Werkha didn’t take much persuading and provided creative input into the recipe, guided by the technical experience of ShinDigger. ‘City Shuffle Red Ale’ (named after track 10 on the album) is a red ale brewed with four speciality malts, then followed up with the usual ShinDigger hop-forward treatment.
The new offering from ShinDigger Brewing Co will be available in selected pubs and bars in and around Manchester from the end of June in time with the release of WERKHA’s album. “The Colours of a Red Brick Raft” showcases the young musician’s talent for combining electro-grooves with a diverse range of genres and live instrumentals.
Tom Leah, the man behind Werkha, says “Both myself and ShinDigger have a strong Manchester connection so we saw it fitting to brew a red ale, a colour deeply rooted in Manchester’s heritage”.
Paul Delamere, co-founder of ShinDigger adds “City Shuffle Red Ale is the first beer in our collaboration series where we team-up with different elements of youth culture. We believe if we can get some beer lovers listening to Werkha’s music, and at the same time Werkha fans drinking good beer, then the project will be a great success.”
