Simon shows his culinary artistry at the Art Gallery

2 September 2019 by Neil Sowerby

EL Gato Negro chef/patron Simon Shaw fronts the latest in a quartet of immersive supper clubs – a collaboration between Manchester Food and Drink Festival and Manchester Art Gallery.

The Gallery on Mosley Street is once again the venue for the Saturday, September 7 banquet, billed as a contemporary Spanish get together. Simon will will be creating a sharing feast menu inspired by the new group show, Get Together and Get Things Done. Tickets at £69.88 (inc booking fee) include a glass of sparkling wine on arrival, live music and entertainment throughout the evening. Buy them here.

Previous themed supper clubs there have been hosted by Salvi’s and Mary-Ellen McTague. Each exclusive event sees Manchester’s best chefs create a one-off, immersive dining experience, themed around exhibitions, designed to offer real insight and, of course, appropriate food.

Last in the series sees Aiden Byrne, owner and exec chef at restaurant MCR teaming up with the art gallery curators for ‘The Art of Dining’ – during MFDF on Saturday, October 5. Aiden’s event celebrates the wider aspects of the Art Gallery’s extensive collection. He will cook a six-course tasting menu with each dish inspired by a different artwork.  As each course is served, guests will hear from the curators and Aiden who will guide them through the art and the dish. Sold out.

Simon Shaw’s Get Together, Saturday, September 7, 7pm-10.30pm. Manchester Art Gallery, Mosley St, Manchester M2 3JL.
