Solita reveal plans to open '50s steakhouse on Deansgate

21 October 2015

Solita, the popular Northern Quarter Americana restaurant and home of the Big Manc, have  announced plans to open a 1950s-style steak restaurant, set to open in early 2016.

The new restaurant, which is yet to be named, will be housed in the new foodie hub of Barton Arcade, Deansgate, home of Pot Kettle Black and the soon to open Lunya

Meanwhile, the original Turner Street restaurant will temporarily turn off the fryers while they invest in new décor.

According to Solita, when it reopens on Friday October 23, customers can expect to see custom graffiti, specially-commissioned artwork and neon delights (see their Prestwich site for inspiration).

They'll be celebrating their re-launch by offering 25% off the bill when customers subscribe to their mailing list. Based on their calorific menu and love of deep fried food (deep fried burger, anyone?), Taste recommend loose-fitting attire for the occasion

Owners Franco Sotgiu and Simon Pogson have taken inspiration for the new look from some of their favourite cities and venues across the world, including a recent fact-finding trip to New York.

Co-owner Franco Sotgiu said: “The restaurants have developed quite a lot over the years and we are using this as a chance to bring it more in line with new venue design concepts."

“We’re not having a relaunch, but we wanted to make sure our loyal customers can come and have a look at our new design, as well as enjoy a discount on their meal as a big thank you from us.”
