Some really cool Winter igloos have arrived at The Black Friar Pub

29 November 2021 by Deanna Thomas

The Black Friar pub in Salford has set up a series of winter igloos in its outside courtyard, creating a unique Xmas dining experience just in time for the festive season.

The cold windy weather shouldn’t put a stop to winter dining. Gone are the days of huddling under a heat lamp, as these new winter domes come complete with cosy interiors creating a warm, intimate atmosphere under the stars. The limited edition, handmade domes are the ideal spot for a unique winter feasting experience at this top gastro pub and they’re available to book completely free of charge for diners. Each dome will also be available for drink bookings with a minimum spend charge.

Guests will be able to drink and dine in the super snug domes from 25th November up until March 2022 in the beer garden at The Black Friar pub - just a five minute walk over the bridge from Deansgate.

Each dome accommodates between four to eight people, so whether it’s a long lunch, a post-work pick-me-up or a full-blown festive celebration, the igloos offer something for everyone this winter.

Diners can choose the Black Friar’s traditional menu of elevated pub classics, or the Made for Winter selection with a range of festive themed dishes, such as Game Terrine and Cheshire Turkey Ballotine.

Following a £1.4 million refurbishment over the summer of 2021, the historic Black Friar pub was originally built in 1886 and has been serving the people of Manchester for centuries. Known as ‘a gem amongst giants’, the Salford venue preserves a fine balance of a traditional pub atmosphere with the benefits of a modern look and feel.
