CHRISTMAS is so close now there’s no reason not to get stuck into the bubbly. Well, that’s ToM’s excuse and why we’re sorely tempted to pop down to Altrincham Town Hall this weekend (Nov 18 and 19) to check out the Fizz Festival, back for its third year.
This time there are more than 100 wines available to try and buy, from Cava and Prosecco through to award-winning English sparkling wine and Champagne. The ticket price includes a free tasting of all wines with no need to buy additional tokens.
More than 400 visitors made it a sell-out success last year and this year’s FF has attracted some attractive new suppliers including Wines of Brazil, Skyfall Gran Reserva from Spain and East Sussex award-winners Fox & Fox.
There will be a pop-up food area, live music and a range of informal masterclasses and the event culminates in the Fizz Festival People’s Choice Awards, winners chosen by public vote over the weekend. Oh, and it’s a great place to stock up fizz for the festive season via the allied Fizz Club.
