YOU’VE got to admire the inventiveness of Mike Edge and the folk down at the Splendid Sausage Co – it’s almost frightening.
It actually is this Halloween with their creation of the monstrous Splendid Hallowiener Dog, featuring spicy sausage, bacon, onions, pumpkin and squash croquettes and REAL crickets and meal worms, cooked in garlic, chilli and ginger and wrapped in a brioche bun.
Edge commented on the creepy creation; “Not only does our Hallowiener offer a spooky, insect inspired Halloween treat for our more daring diners, it offers a chance to try what we’re being told is a sustainable food source of the future. We’d like to dare people to come and try; it’s a surprisingly pleasant Halloween surprise!”
The Splendid Hallowiener Dog is £8 and will be available from Friday to Sunday (Oct 31-Nov2). in limited numbers. Splendid Sausage Co is on John Dalton Street, just off Albert Square. Open Monday to Saturday noon until10pm and on Sunday noon until 9pm.
