EGGSTRA-ORDINARY television or just the Hairy Bikers finding yet another vehicle for their brand of hirsute high jinks? Judge for yourself at 8pm on BBC2 2 tonight (Tuesday, September 6) as the pair drop in on Bangers & Bacon in Left Bank, Spinningfields for the second episode of their new series, Chicken and Egg.
Here in a battle of the savoury eggs they come up against fellow beardie, chef Robert Owen Brown – their ‘Hairy Egg’ take on the Scotch egg using cheese and onion crisps pitted against Rob’s acclaimed creation, the Manchester Egg. B&B’s James Taylor and Richard Brown act as judges. We’re not giving away the result but, as big supporters of their work in progress new venture BeastRo, taking over half the sites at The Kitchens, we suggest you pop down tomorrow (Wednesday, September 7) to their interim pop-up to sample the real thing.
The Hairy Ones have long been on their bike – call it the cheesy chicken run – but in the real world £4 will buy you a real Manchester Egg at breakfast and brunch from 7am-3pm. Enjoy.
