THE Red Door is open. The basement bar beneath The Botanist on Deansgate is looking to redefine late night drinking in Manchester – as if the city needed any excuse.
Certainly the 250-capacity joint looks good – £350,000 well spent – with quirky touches that set it apart from the identikit bars springing up all over.
Check out the two reclaimed doors (both red, naturally, installed within Red Door Manchester. These were commissioned by the Tim Bacon from talented local artist Jamie Green.
The much-loved chairman of Living Ventures, who died on April 29, was particularly excited by this final project, having fond memories of the location as JW Johnsons, the legendary restaurant, bar and basement club which he owned with entrepreneur, Dave Hinds, in the 90’s.
The venue was loved by a wide variety of people and Red Door, opening in the same basement space (underneath The Botanist), is sure to emulate this. Tim had once again joined forces, independently, with Dave Hinds and former LV bar expert, Lee Lynch, to bring Red Door to Manchester after successful launches in Liverpool and Chester.
Red Door is open 5pm-2am Sun-Thurs and 5pm-3am Fri & Sat with an eclectic range of live music and DJ sets. It promises to be a fun place with signature cocktails made from premium ingredients such as the Big Dill and The One With The Balloon.
