Sushi Mami opened on Manchester’s Portland Street just before Christmas. The new Japanese kitchen specialises in sushi, sashimi, robata grilled food, crispy tempura, teppanyaki, Japanese wok and other rice and noodle dishes. And if that isn’t exciting enough, Sushi Mami also runs an all-you-can-eat menu alongside their a-la-carte menu. They also have a special deal for children (aged 5-10) who can eat at half price.
“We love sushi,” says Sushi Mami’s Grace Zhong. “We’re not just a sushi buffet, but a brand-new sushi place for the people of Manchester. All our chefs are experienced in making sushi by hand and all our ingredients are fresh – including sashimi grade fish.”
Sushi Mami are also claiming to be the first all-you-can-eat sushi in town offering the option to enjoy endless amounts of over one hundred items on the menu including maki, temaki, nigiri, gunkan and sashimi, at an affordable price.
This offer also includes freshly made hot dishes such as grilled skewers from the robata grill as well as teppanyaki (available at dinner time only), crispy tempura, gyoza dumplings and sticky chicken wings. A selection of fresh stir-fried dishes from the Japanese wok include Japanese curry dishes and you can also choose from several ramen, udon and soba noodle dishes as well as fried rice, soup and salads.
With so much choice available, we had to ask Grace what she would recommend. “Our maki, definitely.” She says without hesitation. “Especially our crispy maki. We roll crispy tempura flakes and avocado inside this special sushi and use Japanese mayo as seasoning. It is crispy, creamy and the best thing is, it is a vegan dish so people who don’t eat fish can still enjoy this sushi. This sushi dish took our chef around a year in development.”
Sushi Mami’s restaurant combines a modern and elegant interior in soft yellow with pink neon with traditional elements such as statues, ornaments and flowering blossoms. Ordering is easy. Just browse through the menu and place your order via their smart tablet device, and your freshly made food will arrive as soon as it’s ready. Book your table HERE.
But sustainability and food waste are at the forefront of their minds – as they should be. “With the all-you-can-eat concept, you may order as many dishes as you like,” the menu advises. “You may order to your satisfaction, but please do not over-order. In order to limit food waste, we will charge additional £1 per wasted item.”
To celebrate their official launch period, Sushi Mami are introducing a limited-edition BUY ONE GET ONE FOR FREE offer, which means two full-paying adults can enjoy their all-you-can-eat meal for the price of one.
** AND NOW THE LAUNCH OFFER HAS BEEN EXTENDED UNTIL THE END OF MARCH **
