Taste test: Floral cider

2 June 2009

Taste of Manchester got a surprise delivery the other week when a crate of Kopparberg was dropped off at the office. You didn’t need to tell us twice to dig in, so we did.

The cider brand has just launched two new flavours: mixed berry cider and elderflower and lime. I didn’t actually get a mixed berry one to try so maybe someone else swiped those ones.

Mixed in with apple cider, the elderflower and lime was a pleasant flowery addition. However, by the end of the glass it was getting a bit sweet for my taste buds. However, it would be refreshing poured over ice on a hot day but maybe not to drink all night.

The cider brand, well known for its pear cider, is made in the town of Kopparberg in Sweden. The press release says it is made with locally sourced soft water to produce a semi-sweet cider.

In a new 500ml bottle, the elderflower and lime version has an ABV of 4%. It is available in Manchester in Loaf, Eden, Atlas, Odder and Kro Bar.
