TATTU, bar/eaterie inspired by body art, looks bound to make a spectacular mark

31 March 2015

THE latest high profile opening in Spinningfields is Tattu Restaurant and Bar, which promises to add something refreshingly distinct to the burgeoning food and drink scene down there when it launches on Gartside Street on Saturday, May 9. It wants you not juts to eat and drink there but also follow a ‘story’ based on body art. Hence the name.

The venue has been designed to take customers on ‘a visual journey across three separate areas, each drawing decorative influence from different styles of body art. Inspired by the strong conceptual restaurants found on America’s west coast, brothers Adam and Drew Jones have utilised this design model to build the foundation of their offering, with their inspiration influencing everything from the interior design to the menu itself.”

Phew. Charged with making it look the part is designer Edwin Pickett of Living Ventures and Neighbourhoood fame; the Orient is the inspiration for the food offering.

Created by London-based executive chef, Andrew Lassetter, the menu will focus on expertly crafted dim sum and small plates. Both the head chef and head dim sum chef have been sourced from the Hakkasan Group, responsible for many of London’s most celebrated Asian restaurants including Hakkasan, HKK, Yauatcha and Sake No Hana.

Alongside the food, they promise a bespoke cocktail menu and a premium wine list,

Tattu’s soft launch will last from Monday, April 27 until Wednesday May 6. A small selection of customers will be able to experience Tattu during this period with a 50 per cent discount on all food. To register for a chance to be one of the first to dine head to www.tattu.co.uk for details.
