The team behind Common, Port Street Beer House and IndyManBeerCon are branching out into the suburbs. Their new venture is a "beer hall with dining rooms" which will open in Chorlton from mid November.
Borrowing what the team describe as âbits from all our previous projectsâ, many new ideas are incorporated in this venture, which sees the menu overseen by Laurence Tottingham of Aumbry (MFDF Chef 2011 and MFDF Restaurant of the Year 2010 / 2012).
On the beer front, expect a comprehensive selection of cask, keg and bottled beers, predominantly from the UK, as well as bespoke beers brewed for The Beagle by some of the breweries they have made associations with through Port Street Beer House (MFDF Pub of the Year 2012) and IMBC.
Hanging Ditch
Fine wines are selected by acclaimed city centre merchants, Hanging Ditch, a complement to the menu which they describe as offering âplayful takes on colonial relics, British exports and foreign imports, anything that influenced the British palate over the last couple of hundred years is fair game.â Traditional recipes and modern classics will get a look in.
Expect the most humble of rustic British dishes to be cooked with zeal, showcasing extraordinary attention to detail. The big idea is to take inspiration from the changes that British classics have undergone on their travels around the world. Perhaps they have picked up some spice, or imagination. As at Aumbry, expect perfect execution and immaculate sourcing.
In the main, double-height bar, there will be a wall-sized bar down the right hand side of the venue. Formerly home to Scotts Hill and Charango, casual dining and outdoor seating (and drinking) will be available on the sheltered street terrace, while sections of the back wall are being knocked through to bring more light to the smart dining area towards the back. With our favourite pub, our favourite wine retailer and our favourite restaurant all joining forces, weâd be really surprised if this Beagle doesnât thrive.
