THE DAISY – A NEW NQ SPACE FOR CREATIVITY TO BLOSSOM

31 January 2018 by Neil Sowerby

EVELYN’S is a welcoming haven on Tib Street but a new members only bolthole in the basement. The Daisy, officially opens on Thursday, February 1 (there’s a swish launch party next day).

It’s described as ‘a creative, like-minded co-working and events space’ – ie a place to hang out and enjoy a cup of Ozone coffee by day, and after dark sample some cocktail creations or dip into a wine list curated by Peter Honegger of Dalston Austrian specialists Newcomer. Oh, and along the way forging some serious creative bonds

ToM hasn’t had an advance peek, hence the artist’s impression above of this intriguing venture. We are promised mid-century reclaimed furniture, mosaic monochrome tiles, and a pink Daisy neon sign and a industrial chic French presence (no, we’re not sure either).

Daisy founder Sax Arshad told us: “We are excited to be able to create this space in Manchester’s Northern Quarter following the reception of Evelyn’s a couple of years ago and continuing the family’s ties with hospitality since Mughli in 1991 and further still when the family used to own Jimmy’s night club in the city during the late Seventies.

“London has many of these types of member venues and I think it will work really well here. The Smithfield Buildings are iconic and well-known in Manchester. Using the industrial features in the basement, we worked to enhance it with a natural ‘upgrade’ rather than a forced one. The intimate two floors will hopefully make you forget about the time, and spend the entire day there.”

The Daisy is hosting an open month following the launch on the 1st February. All visitors are welcome to check out the new venue. The Daisy membership benefits will only be available to paying members during the open month.

The Daisy will be opened daily Mon-Fri 9am-6pm and evenings Wed-Sat Saturday 6pm until late. To enquire about membership visit this link.
