The Tollgate in Old Trafford, Manchester, has undergone an exciting refurbishment and reopened as a ‘Grandstand’ sports pub following an investment of £400,000.
The refurbishment included the installation of market-leading technology, including a new giant HD screen and multiple HD screens throughout the pub, a state-of-the-art sound system, and flexible tiered seating to guarantee a great view of the action. To give the local community an exclusive preview of the new technology, a huge TV box has been installed outside the pub to reflect the giant screen that can be found inside.
The outdoor area has been refurbished, with new TV screens added, and Marston’s ‘Order & Pay’ app allows guests to order and pay from their tables, meaning they never miss a minute of the action. The outdoor space will also feature a hand-painted mural by local street and mural artist Pic One. The artwork is set to be completed following the pub’s reopening, and will celebrate the city’s vibrant culture.
The Tollgate has also been decorated with local sports memorabilia. It is on the hunt for photographs and merchandise, giving pub-goers the chance to fill the walls and celebrate the achievements of local sports stars and teams, past and present.
The Tollgate was proud to invite Ying-Hoi Soo (affectionately known to Reds as 'Mr Miyagi’), a well-known local personality within the Trafford and Manchester United communities, as its Community Hero to pull the first pint and officially mark the pub’s opening. Ying is recognised for his selfless charity work, raising awareness for his chosen charities while engaging with and entertaining the local community. The Tollgate plans to work closely with Ying in the future to support his charity work.
