HALLE ST PETERS CHURCH, ANCOATS: 24TH & 25TH MAY

Northwest wine lovers have another reason to look forward to finally seeing the end of this long winter and enjoying the summer, as the North West Wine Fest rolls into town, promising blooming good grapes and an unparalleled wine experience.

The North West Wine Fest is a traveling celebration of exciting, exclusive and boutique wines brought to the region by independent merchants, for the first time, at tastings in Greater Manchester and Cheshire.

Organisers of the Big Indie Wine Fest (part of Manchester Food and Drink Festival and now in its 5th year) and North West Spring Wine Fest (now in its 3rd year) are this year planning multiple events in the Spring and Summer all designed to celebrate the wonderful independent wine retailers in Greater Manchester. May sees the wine festival pop up in Ancoats for a boozy bank holiday celebration at the stunning St Peters Church.

A collection of independent wine retailers will be sampling an impressive cornucopia of exclusive, boutique wines at this unique location. St Peters Church is an historic, Grade ii listed deconsecrated church, now beautifully restored to house Manchester's famous Halle Orchestra, as their official rehearsal space. The venue has also been the focus of exciting news of late, as Manchester International Festival announced it as the location for their specially commissioned interpretation of MacBeth starring Kenneth Brannagh.

This dramatic location will be taken over by a dozen wine retailers for the weekend all sampling their most exciting wines. Entrance fee covers customers tastings for the whole session, allowing guests the chance to try and buy the most exclusive and interesting wines from the very best independent retailers in the region.
