The ground-breaking chocolatier Paul A. Young has created an Afternoon Tea for Harvey Nichols that treats the taste buds to a truly chocolatey dining experience that plays to all five senses.
With a reputation as a creative flavour alchemist, Paul incorporates unusual flavours into chocolate, developing combinations that are original, experimental, sometimes daring, yet always perfectly balanced. The Chocolate Afternoon Tea explores the relationship of fragrance and scent with taste, texture and the tactile sensation when chocolate flavours first hit the tongue.
After the initial launch event with a talk from the chocolate guru himself, Harvey Nichols will be running Paul's special chocolate afternoon tea menu at their Secon Floor Bar and Brasserie until October 31.
The Manchester Harvey Nichols will be the only store to be serving both Young's exclusive chocolate afternoon tea alongside their traditional afternoon tea menu, something that Young commended in when talking to Taste of Manchester.
"The Manchester kitchen team are hardcore. They are the only store running both menus which is a huge aount of work."
Young is also currently looking for venues to open a chocolaterie in Manchester, he tells Taste.
Having grown up in Durham and studied in Leeds, Young is keen to make the shop unique to Manchester by sourcing all the ingredients locally and creating chocolates inspired by local recipes, he explains.
Named Outstanding British Chocolatier at the International Chocolate Awards in 2014 and an award winner at the Academy of Chocolate awards for five years running, Paul A. Young is at the forefront of the British chocolate scene.
