For the last few years Swan Street has had a void on its corner after Mecanica sadly closed but those of you who have kept an observant eye on that small section of town will have noticed some additional building work arise recently.
Thankfully, that’s because the former Mecanica unit will be taken over by the team Behind Another Heart To Feed and turned into a neighbourhood bar called The Wayfarer.
The construction, consultancy and Project management company RECOM will be leading the charge on the project while Urban Village Bars who also own The Freemount will be taking ownership of the exciting project.
Although the majority of the details are still under wraps, we have been treated to some sneak peeks of the exterior and similar to The Freemount, the buildings façade will be adorned with striking emerald tiling.
Head of construction at RECOM, Jordan Stent had this to say: “We are thrilled to be continuing and strengthening our working relationships with the Pot Kettle Black group and Urban Village Bars with these contracts.
“It’s an exciting time for Manchester city centre, and managing projects such as these, which will help add further to the vibrancy and choice on offer, is extremely pleasing for the whole team at RECOM.”
Martin Dillon who represents Urban Bars commented: “Our relationship with RECOM has been developed over several years. The company has successfully completed projects at West Village, The Freemount and Another Heart to Feed and now our new venue in the Northern Quarter, The Wayfarer is heading towards completion.”
