RAKSHA Bandhan is an annual ceremony celebrated in India, some other parts of South Asia, and among people around the world influenced by Hindu culture.
On this day, sisters of all ages tie a bracelet, talisman, or amulet, called the rakhi, around the wrists of their brothers, symbolically protecting them, receiving a gift in return, and traditionally investing the brothers with a share of the responsibility of their potential care.
Bundobust, the craft beer meets Gujarati veggie food haunt in Piccadilly Gardens, will be giving out rakhis (specially designed fabric festival-style wristbands) to the first 50 customers to wish them Happy Raksha Bandhan on the big day, Thursday, August 15.
Wearing this wristband will entitle them to 20 per cent off food and drink at Bundobust for a whole year – until Raksha Bandhan 2020. Anybody who still has their rakhi on their wrist at Raksha Bandhan 2020 will get a free combo for four at a rakhi removing ceremony held on the eve of Raksha Bandhan 2020.
