Sister Moon
High above the city, Sister Moon is bringing a serious dose of Southeast Asian cooking to the Treehouse Hotel. Sam Grainger’s menu takes in punchy curry pastes, seafood, fire-cooked meats and plenty of spice, all served from the hotel’s 14th floor with Manchester spread out below.

Dahlia Stereo
The Northern Quarter has a new late-night contender. Dahlia Stereo combines a restaurant, bar and music venue across two floors, with Latin American-inspired cooking coming from an open-fire kitchen. Expect tortillas, charred breads and barbecue, followed by DJs and a rather lively evening.

Maison Corn Exchange
Croissants, cruffins, iced matcha and coffee have landed inside the Corn Exchange. Maison brings a Parisian feel to the city centre, with pastries supplied by Half Dozen Other and a cracking speciality drinks menu that also includes matcha.

Gigi
A grand old city-centre building is getting a new life as Gigi, an Italian grill room from the team at Want Studios. The kitchen is being led by Sam Astley Dean, so pasta is likely to feature heavily alongside the grill-focused menu.

Bar Dos
The people behind Stray have opened another drinking den, this time with an even bigger emphasis on music. Bar Dos is bringing DJs, carefully assembled playlists and a late-night atmosphere to Great Ancoats Street, joining a growing run of independent spots in the area.

Arcadian
Didsbury’s former Hispi site has been transformed into Arcadian, where almost everything revolves around the fire. The kitchen is working with everything from seafood and small plates to substantial cuts, while a 74-cover dining room and private room give it plenty of room for a proper night out.

Amò by Salvi’s
Salvi’s has gone a little more casual with Amò, a compact Italian spot tucked away on Deansgate Mews. There’s a changing daily lunch, deli sandwiches, aperitivo deals and Italian produce to take home, making it as useful for a quick bite as it is for a leisurely spritz.

Bar Caput
Stockport’s Great Underbank has gained another reason to venture out. Bar Caput takes its cues from Rome, serving crisp fritti and thin, Roman-style pizza in the former Cantaloupe site. Be sure to save some space for dessert.

Always The Same
The Wild Alderman in Didsbury now does coffee with Always The Same opening its doors. With beans from York-based Harmony Coffee Roasters and pastries from La Chouquette, this will no doubt be a very welcome addition to the neighbourhood.

Forbici Trafford Centre
Forbici has swapped the city centre for the Trafford Centre, bringing its Neapolitan pizzas into the Orient food hall. Forbici pizza is all about good flour, proper tomatoes and quality toppings, offering a little taste of Naples, perfect after a long day of retail therapy.

Gaucho Manchester has marked its 25th birthday by giving the place a substantial refresh. The restaurant now has a new bar and a Manchester-only smoked steak, while the interiors have been softened with timber, marble and muted tones.
