LIVING Ventures have moved in to take over the glorious Reform Club space at the top of KIng Street that used to house Room – in its place will be a lavish new Grand Pacific restaurant and bar, due to open in the summer.
The existing Grand Pacific (pictured below) in Spinningfields will be rebranded as Australasia Terrace Bar, which is what, in effect, it has always been.
Tim Bacon’s city centre empire now extends to 11 venues, including Manchester House, Artisan, The Oast House Gusto and the two Alchemists.
He says: “As soon as I heard Room was closing I was on the phone to Bruntwood, because I just thought I can’t let that building go. It’s such a cracking dining room. I’ve loved it for a very long time, back since the days of Reform.''
The new Grand Pacific’s 100 cover restaurant will feature of Pan-Asian small plates cuisine, but the bar will be prominent with a late licence and state-of-the-art DJ booth with “Emulator” touchscreen technology as seen in Australasia.
Taste of Manchester hope that the refurb of this ornate 1871 building, originally The Reform Club, a gentlemen’s club for Manchester’s Liberal Party elite, will be sympathetic.
