TIM Bacon always knew how to throw a great party and it seems appropriate that a year after the Living Ventures boss’s death a unique citywide banquet in his memory has been launched.
On Thursday, September 21, more than 1,000 people will simultaneously pack seven of his city centre restaurants – Artisan, The Alchemist, GUSTO, Grill on the Alley, Australasia, Grand Pacific (above) and Manchester House – followed by a party in his honour at the Albert Hall.
The groundbreaking Dream the Impossible event aims to raise half a million pounds in one night for The Tim Bacon Foundation, which was set up in his name after his death from cancer.
The money will go towards Manchester cancer hospital The Christie’s proton beam therapy project and Maggie’s Centres, which support patients and their loved ones.
Tim’s business partner Jeremy Roberts, who set up the foundation, said he believed it to be the first event of its kind in the world.
“The idea is to celebrate Tim’s contribution in establishing those restaurants by enjoying excellent food and drink and above all having some seriously good fun,” he said.
“So, after dinner, we will be having a huge party featuring an incredible line up of acts at the Albert Hall on Peter Street for everyone dining with us that night.
“I’d like to urge people to save the date. We will be announcing more details including the entertainment planned for this very special party in the coming weeks.”
Tickets including dinner and entry to the party will start from £100 and will go on sale from May 15 from timbaconfoundation.co.uk .
