Tokyo Ramen team to open Peruvian BBQ in Salford

24 May 2022 by Deanna Thomas

The Adelphi Lads Club, once at the heart of the Salford community, is being given a new lease of life. This historic Manchester building, which closed in 2008, is to reopen as a bar and kitchen on Friday 17th June.

The Cannon Street venue will host a programme of events, music and parties running late into the evening throughout the summer months. The Adelphi Lads Club will also be the perfect space to enjoy the Mancunian summer come rain or shine thanks to the Adelphi Garden, an all-weather green oasis with covers and heaters.

The Adelphi Lads Club will also be home to a unique new BBQ food concept, Los Vigilantes, from the team behind Tokyo Ramen. Expect their signature bold flavours, smoke and fire with lesser-known ingredients sourced from the Andes and Amazon regions of Peru.

A bespoke cocktail menu will ensure thirsts are quenched with Supersonic Gin who will be serving some of its most popular gins alongside, of course, the Adelphi Lads Club IPA from Big Hug Brewery.

Guests will be able to book tables for both food and drinks, with walk-ins always available. Spaces are also available for hire for larger groups.

The Adelphi Lads Club was formed in 1888 by 23-year-old teacher Walter Southern, as a means to keep impoverished kids off the street and out of trouble. It quickly became the centre of the community.

The latest incarnation of the venue is the result of a partnership between events specialist Broome Events Group, the owners of the building Reform Developments and the creator of Elnecot in Ancoats.

Callum Broome of Broome Events Group said; “To restore this historic Greater Manchester building has long been a dream of mine, it’s an honour to bring back part of this iconic venue.

"The Adelphi Lads Club has played such an integral role in so many people's lives over the past decades, we can’t wait to reopen the doors to the modern generation for them to enjoy the space before it's gone for good.”
