An Altrincham audience got its teeth stuck into a lively debate about organic food during an event hosted by the townâs Hullabaloo cafe. The Organic Explained debate opened up the floor for consumers to discuss the pros and cons of buying and eating organic produce. Leading the debate was BBC Radio Four Farmer of the Year and founder of Riverford Organics Guy Watson. A farmer for more than 20 years, Guy is now a regular on television after being named as one of Jimmy Dohertyâs Farming Heroes in his popular BBC Two series.
Guy, whose business has been named Best Organic Retailer 2009 by the Soil Association, led a lively debate and shared his views on organic farming and the controversy that surrounds organic produce. He was also joined on the platform by Suzi Illston, owner of organic cafe Hullabaloo, which uses fruit and vegetables supplied by Riverford Organic. Guests enjoyed a selection of food from Hullabaloo during the event and were given a goodie bag packed full of Riverford Organic produce as well as being entered into a prize draw to win a signed copy of the Riverford Farm Cookbook.
Riverford Organics currently operates from five organic farms around the country, including Stockley Farm, near Northwich. For more information visit www.riverford.co.uk
