If you’d love to learn more about wine and how it matches with different food, Manchester’s five-star Lowry Hotel has announced a new series of monthly dinners for 2022. Dishes from the hotel’s award-winning River Restaurant will be paired with world-class wines in collaboration with guest vineyards, producers and suppliers.
Guests will dine in five-star surroundings within the River Restaurant’s private dining room, enjoying canapes followed by a five-course meal paired with a range of unique wines.
The first of The Lowry Hotel’s Wine Dinner series begins on 28th May in collaboration with Pommery Champagne. There will be a dinner hosted with Château La Gordonne in June, followed by a gin dinner with North West distillery, Four Sis4ers, in October. Details of future events will be announced throughout the year.
Guests at The Lowry Hotel’s first event of the series, in collaboration with Pommery Champagne, will be treated to five courses starting with Pommery Brut Royal, a beautifully balanced Champagne with hints of brioche and honey. This will be paired delicately with canapes including beef fillet tartar with wasabi and cured egg yolk on a toasted brioche, and bay oysters with compressed apple and cucumber granita.
Paired with Pommery Blanc de Blancs, a Champagne crafted from a selection of chardonnay grapes, guests will enjoy teriyaki-cured salmon with horseradish crispbread and white rice, and a potato and mussel espuma mousse.
Main course is lamb fillet Wellington which will be paired with Rare Vineyard Pinot Noir, and the dessert course - rhubarb tart with goat’s milk sorbet - will be paired with Pommery Brut Rose, a blend of rosé and Pinot Noir, with a pale pink finesse overlaid with a hint of red berries.
To finish, Late Bottled Vintage Port will be served with Lancashire Bomb Cheddar and the traditional Manchester-born sweet treat, an Eccles cake.
The intimate dining event will start at 19:00 in the hotel’s library for arrival drinks and canapés, followed by dinner at 20:00 in the River Restaurant’s private dining room.
Those interested in the series of wine dinner are encouraged to keep an eye on The Lowry Hotel’s Instagram (@thelowryhotel) where details of the next event will be announced.
