Variety's the spice of coffee at innovative NQ newcomer Seed & Cherry

30 July 2019

IT’S the coffee equivalent of one of the great craft beer bars with a rotating selection inviting informed appraisal (or you might just want a flat white to go!).

Seed & Cherry’s raison d’etre is as an ‘experiential coffee shop’, the first of its kind in Manchester they claim, offering a range of carefully sourced, speciality grade coffee beans from across the world, and it’s opening in the Northern Quarter on Monday, August 5.

Customers will be able to select a different coffee bean each time they visit with up to five types of beans on offer at any one time. S

The coffee beans are sourced from Colombia, Rwanda, Brazil and Kenya. All are ethically grown and processed with part of the proceeds going to support projects in the local communities. Seed & Cherry will share the stories behind each bean from seed to cup, through the planting, harvesting, roasting and rigorous tasting process.

So get ready to explore the likes of Colombia Las Brisas, a medium, syrupy bean tasting of red apple, brown sugar, orange and caramel, Rwanda Twumba, a juicy, citric profile with a caramel texture and notes of dark chocolate and Brazil Fazenda Rainha da Paz, a heavy, rounded, creamy coffee with flavours predominantly of cacao and stone fruit with mild nutty notes.

There’s food promised too in the Church Street cafe.Breakfast dishes will include super berry acai bowls, brioche French toast, full English breakfast skewers and vegan pancakes, while lunches and light bites will feature beetroot and feta toasted sourdough, halloumi skewers, truffle fries and a variety of fresh salads.

Co-founder Faizan Zaheer, told us: “Generally people have their ‘go-to’ drink in a bar and the learning the heritage and nuances of alcohol is becoming increasingly popular.

“Coffee beans are similar in that they all have their own flavour profiles. There is a bean for everyone’s preference, and we want to help bring this to the forefront. Customers will be able to learn, try and select their own coffee before having it crafted into their perfect drink.”

From Monday August 5 to Friday August 9 there’ll be a soft launch period with 50 per cent off food.
