JUST when the Manc vegan/vegetarian scene is really taking off comes the bad news that veggie stalwart 1847 has closed after seven years in Mosley Street; the good news they are looking for a bigger site to put them on a par with their offshoots in Birmingham, Bristol and Brighton. Watch this space.
And if you fancy a plant-based splurge this Saturday look no further than the Vegan Street Food and Beer Festival at Chorlton Brewing Co – not in Chorlton as the name suggests but in a cosy archway along the Piccadilly Beer Mile.
Savoury dishes from V Rev Vegan Diner (their signature seitan burger pictured below) and The Kitchen on Great Moor Street, with sweet treats from A Kind Mama, Nicely Kitchen and Pimpin’ Pancakes.
We’d suggest you match with one of the sour beers Chorlton brewing whizz Mike Marcus is legendary for.
Saturday May 6, Chorlton Brewing Company, 69 North Western Street, Manchester, M12 6DX,12pm-9pm, entry free.
