ONCE upon a time there were three lads who Dj’d a lot. They also worked at Croma for the extra dough. We all know what happened to Matty White – XS Radio programme controller and purveyor of choice podcasts and videos for Taste of Manchester.
The other two may not be as recognisable up here unless you are a diehard foodie and aficionado of the World’s Best Restaurant list. Daniel Willis and Johnny Smith are on it at No.33 as co-owners of the Michelin-starred Clove Club in Shoreditch, which is the highest placed UK restaurant, ahead of fellow London establishments Dinner by Heston Blumenthal (45), Lyles (38) and The Ledbury (42) where Clove Club’s chef/co-owner Isaac McHale was once development chef.
Matty couldn’t resist catching up with his old pals Daniel and Johnny, both from Stockport, who moved south a decade ago to follow their music dreams and ended up becoming whizzes on the Supper Club circuit.
After making the leap into destination restaurants via crowdfunding they are now in the starry realms of £110 Tasting Menus (main image – anyone for mackerel?). We don’t know whether they fed our Matty, but they were happy to star in his latest Fodder Video.
