VIVA! BRASIL! COTTONOPOLIS LAUNCHES NIKKEI BASED SPECIALS FOR OLYMPICS

14 August 2016 by Neil Sowerby

COTTONOPOLIS is bringing a taste of Nikkei, the Japanese/Brazilian/Peruvian cuisine to Newton Street for the duration of the Olympics until the official closing party on Friday, August 21. It’s one of the few kitchen operations in the city that could recreate this fusion of delicacies created by Brazil’s huge Japanese community.

First up on the menu is Pachamanca – teriyaki glazed ribs with a Brazilian smoked chipotle twist (£12). Customers will also have the chance to try Barriguita de Chanchito (pictured), a salad made up of crispy pork belly, apple flavoured nashi pear and yellow tomato (£12).

A couple of meaty additions to the carefully selected menu are Pollo den Miso; a whole roasted poussin in traditional Japanese miso with an avocado salad (£14) and Lomo Ala Yakitori; a fillet of beef skewer with horseradish wasabi mayonnaise (£14).

Finishing things off is, a massive part of Nikkei, Ceviche – a fusion of marinated fish and Japanese sashimi with tender scallops, salmon, ikura, avocado and a wasabi tigersmilk (£12).

Handsome Cottonopolis, shortlisted for Bar of the Year in the 2016 MFDF Awards, has also created a bespoke menu of Brazilian cocktails to accompany the dishes.
